Sveti
Stefan is the symbol of tourism in Montenegro. Whilst the photographs
tend to show the 'island' the village is on the mainland and overlooks
the Hotel Sveti Stefan to which it is joined by a causeway.

From
the 1960's onwards Sveti Stefan has attacted royalty and famous people
from all over the world. People such as Pricess Margret, Sophia Loren,
Kirk Douglas and Claudia Schiffer. The Hotel Sveti Stefan was originally
a small medieval village that was built in a fortified manner to defend
it inhabitants from pirates. In the 1950's it was converted into a luxury
hotel.
Close
by on the mainland is the Milocer which was at one time the royal summer
residence.

The
present day village of Sveti Stefan is situated on the hillside above
these two famous hotels and there you will find several family run guest
houses and apartments. Most of these have the advantage of spectacular
views and the friendly nature of the local villagers. In addition to
the main hotels we can offer accommodation in many of these small friendly
establishments and despite not having the reputation of the larger hotels
many are of a very high standard.
Sveti
Stefan has a regular bus service to Budva for those that prefer to visit
a larger town for a few hours. Sveti Stefan is a good base for excursions
to many parts of Montenegro and we can pre book these for you if required.
We can also arrange car rental throughout Montenegro should you decide
to visit sights at your own pace.
